A thriving hub for the Hydro Group

The Hydro Tasmania group of companies needed to come together into one location in Melbourne – to encourage collaboration, innovation and belonging.

 Background

We were tasked with helping Hydro Group to develop a workplace strategy business case that would enable that spontaneous connection (or ‘Bump Factor’), along with the end-to-end program of change delivery for their Fusion project.

In late October 2019, 420 Momentum, Hydro Tasmania and Entura staff successfully moved to their newly fit-out 3500 sqm. floor at 530 Collins St, Melbourne.  The project delivery took 12 months to complete.

Some changes for the better included:

1. People, place and technology working together – more productively, while using the space more effectively.

2. More flexibility to get the job done – understanding the needs of the employee and teams led to more opportunities for flexibility.

3. Sustainability and overall health the design focuses on creating a healthy and sustainable environment, encouraging encourages employees to get out of their chair and make the most of the space.

4. A cut to costs – the improved workplace created a reduction in equipment, operational costs, infrastructure, printers, monitors and other desk bound tech equipment.

5. Community involvement – employees were able to take up opportunities to partner on community initiatives.

6. Attracting talent - an exceptional employee experience translated into attracting and retaining the best people across Hydro Group.

The Fusion program delivery incurred minimal variations, which was attributed to the careful program planning and the engagement of our people through a unique bespoke Co-Design process.
